Here are a few of our favorite family treasures in the area!
Over the years we’ve met a lot of buyers, and for those with children, the kids are virtually always the priority. Parents might ask, is there a community around us where our kids can make friends? Will they be able to ride their bikes around the neighborhood or can we fit a trampoline in the back? Is there enough storage space for all of our bikes and camping gear? Are we going to be close enough to extended family?
We listen. Looking for the home that as perfectly as possible matches the unique needs of our clients and their families is what makes the job fun – and sometimes a challenge! But the DMV is such a wonderful place to raise a family, so full of opportunity and enrichment, that whatever your style, we’re sure we’ll find what you’re looking for. Here are a few gems, among so many, perfect to make days and weekends together with family – however you define it – memorable.
Butterfly Pavilion at the Museum of Natural History

It has everything you can imagine a child would want to play with outdoors, swings, stuff to climb on, bridges and even a zipline!
Meadowbrook Stables
8200 Meadowbrook Ln, Chevy Chase, MD 20815 – Built in 1934, these lovely stables bring some old world charm to the area and are open to the public from dawn to dusk. It is a perfect place to teach little ones about caring for animals.

Whether you’re looking for something to do on a Saturday with the kids, or need some peaceful time to yourself to walk through Brookside Gardens, this park has it all!
Noyes Library
10237 Carroll Pl, Kensington, MD 20895 – This treasure in Kensington was founded in 1893 and became solely a children’s library in 1972. Stop by for a very special and interactive storytime on Tuesday mornings if you have a baby or toddler.
Gravelly Point Park
Gravelly Point, Arlington, VA 22202 – Right next to Ronald Reagan National Airport, this park is the perfect spot for families to go and watch planes fly over. Also on the water, in the summer you can watch boats pass or ride bikes along the path as you enjoy your day!
And… coming soon! The 11th Street Bridge Project D.C.’s first elevated public park over the Anacostia River that will connect the Capitol Hill/Navy Yard neighborhoods with historic Anacostia and Fairlawn. Expected to open at the end of 2019, the park will feature a three-acre platform for public art and performances, environmental education and healthy recreation. Similar to the New York City Highline, this project will transform aging infrastructure and convert it into a usable public space that will benefit the communities around it!
